We are half way through the summer holidays, and like most parents this time of year you are most probably starting to run out of fun activities to do, especially if you are restricted to a tight budget. Here at Daisy Baby we understand the struggle that many families go through to make sure that each summer creates great memories without breaking the bank. Luckily we have created a list of 4 brilliant budget friendly summer activities for children that are easy to plan and perfect no matter what the weather.
1. Pack A Picnic
We all remember those holidays spent simply nestled on a picnic blanket enjoying the scenery and a sandwich or two, so why not treat our children to the same experience. Costing the same amount as having lunch at home, you don't have to go far to really get the most out of this activity. Take a walk to the local park, beach front or even take some time out and have a picnic in the garden. The perfect budget summer activity that will help you enjoy the great outdoors.
2. Camp Out
If you haven't planned a holiday this year, you and your children can still enjoy a few much needed days away from the house, even if it is just a couple of feet. Children love the feeling of adventure no matter where it is, so why not put a pop-up tent in the garden and camp out for the night. Not only will this save a lot of money, but if your child becomes fussy the comforts of home are just a few steps away. If you don't have a garden, create a tent in your home by hanging sheets over a line placed from one side of the room to the other. A great fun summer activity no matter what the weather.
3. Go On A Nature Walk
The wonder of nature is all around us, whether you are situated in the middle of a bustling city or in the countryside. Make a plan this summer to go for a walk with your child and discover all of the amazing British wildlife that we sometimes take for granted. Create a print out of all of the animals, insects and plants that you think you may see and get your little one to cross them out when they see them. This will help your child learn all about their environment whilst having fun.
4. Take A Trip To A Museum
Most museums are often ignored when we think about family fun, but during the summer many hold great activity days especially for children. With free admission and packed full of rich history and exhibitions, you will be surprised how quickly your child will start having a ball. Visit your local museum's website for upcoming events.
