The Miracle Blanket is an innovative design that is truly unique.  It is, in our opinion, the best baby swaddling product on the market.  It features an integrated foot pouch and two inner arm flaps. This allows you to swaddle your baby with either one or both arms inside the blanket.  The arm flaps help to ensure a secure swaddle whilst allowing for movement around your babies hips and feet. This high quality swaddling blanket offers peace of mind to all parents.  You can be rest assured that your baby will be swaddled safely.

Swaddling is a traditional, proven method of calming babies.  It makes baby feel safe and secure and also comes with lots of other benefits too.  Young babies have a startle reflex whereby they may jerk themselves awake with sudden movements during their sleep.  Swaddling can prevent this, allowing them to sleep more soundly for longer periods of time. The secure feeling of being wrapped in a swaddle is reminiscent of the womb.

If you are thinking of purchasing a swaddling blanket, here are some frequently asked questions which will help you to decide why you should choose this swaddle wrap.

Why choose the Miracle Blanket?

Evidence reveals that swaddling and gentle abdominal pressure are the two best ways to relieve a fussy baby.  There is an old remedy for fussiness that consisted of a long stretchy band around the tummy to provide gentle pressure.  The Miracle blanket is the only product on the market to incorporate two incredibly effective solutions in one.

Why should I swaddle?

Often, babies find it difficult to transition from womb-to-world and it can be a bit of a shock for them.  Experts have suggested that swaddling in the first few months helps by duplicating many of the sensations from the womb and therefore calming the main cause of fussiness.

How long can I swaddle my baby?

Whilst there are differing opinions on this, the recommended age to stop swaddling is around 14 weeks. Most babies will begin to roll over by this age. If a swaddled baby managed to roll over, the result would be a swaddled baby in a face-down position which could be potentially dangerous.  Swaddling should only ever be used in a face-up position. Once babies reach this age, they tend to have gained enough motor control to get their hands to their mouths and also begin to overcome the Moro Reflex enabling them to self-soothe via non-nutritive sucking.

Could swaddling cause overheating?

It could be possible for your baby to overheat, but it has been shown that swaddling alone cannot cause overheating.

If your baby’s tummy feels too warm to the touch, or he/she is perspiring, she may be overheated.  There are a few simple measures that you can take that will eliminate this concern:

  • Wrap baby in the Miracle Blanket and a nappy only.
  • Make sure the room temperature is not too warm, somewhere between 16 and 20 degrees centigrade is perfect. It should feel comfortable to a lightly dressed adult.
  • You can wrap your baby in the Miracle Blanket with his/her feet outside of the foot pocket if overheating is still a concern.

Can I leave both of my baby’s arms free?

This is not something we would recommend because most of the effects of swaddling would then be discarded. If not wrapped inside, baby’s arms will twitch, scratch and flail and the only part of the baby that is (essentially) swaddled is the belly. One arm free is usually okay as some babies like to suck their hand but with both arms free the purpose of swaddling is pointless.
